Chastleton Mission Statement
At Chastleton, our mission is to provide the highest possible standard of care to all of our patients. 

Appointments

Appointments can either be booked up to two weeks in advance (non-urgent or review appointments) or booked on the day (acute or urgent problems). 

Out of Hours

If you require urgent attention or advice,  telephone  111.   If possible, have a pen and paper handy.

Please could you telephone the surgery for your results on: 01913846171 between 2.00- 4.00 pm Monday – Friday

If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment.

Named Accountable GP

All patients now have a named accountable GP who is responsible for patients overall care at the practice.  If you wish to know who your named accountable GP is, please ask at reception.  Please note that although all patients have been allocated a named accountable GP, patients are able to see any GP they like and are not restricted to the GP they have been allocated.

WHAT SERVICES  DO  WE OFFER? 

General Medical Services:   These include surgeries, home visiting and emergency cover. 

Minor Surgery:   A minor operations clinic is run to help save long waits for hospital appointments.  A doctor will advise you which procedures can be performed. 

Family Planning:   This can be discussed during normal surgery appointments. Please note coil fitting and implant insertion are available via County Durham & Darlington Foundation Trust Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) clinics. 

Maternity Services:   Please make an appointment to see a doctor as soon as you think you are pregnant.  A weekly antenatal clinic is held at Chastleton. 

County Durham and Darlington Maternity Services website has lots of valuable information for you concerning your pregnancy, labour and the transition to parenthood.  You can access virtual tours and get advice on aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.  The website can be accessed via www.cddft.nhs.uk, click on Our Services then click on Maternity. 

Well Baby and Child Surveillance:   A weekly well baby and child surveillance clinic is held at Chastleton by appointment.  A doctor and practice nurse are in attendance. 

immuniseAdult Immunisation:   If you need to have preventative immunisations for tetanus and/or polio please make an appointment with a practice nurse. 

Travel Vaccinations:   Chastleton will no longer provide a full travel vaccination service due to our nursing team concentrating on core NHS care.  Chastleton will only provide travel vaccinations available via the NHS.  For all non-NHS travel vaccinations patients are to contact their local private travel clinic.  Please see our new patient information leaflet for further details

Flu Vaccination:   Each Winter the practice runs a flu immunisation programme. 

Cervical Smears:   You will be sent a reminder when your smear test is next due, but if in doubt, please ask at reception.  Appointments for smears should be made with the practice nurse. 

Ambulance Bookings:   If you require an ambulance for a hospital clinic appointment, please telephone the Transport Information Service on 03000 269 999 (open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm excluding bank holidays) or in person at Customer Access point at County Hall, Durham, DH1 5UQ (times as above).
